Self-Discipline and Thoughts
Self-discipline begins with the mastery of your thoughts. If you don’t control what you think, you can’t control what you do.
-Napolean Hill
Common phrases I hear: “I don’t have the self-disciple you do.” “I don’t have the self-discipline to do a daily practice.”
Self-discipline is affected by our thoughts. Are you watching your negative thought patterns? When you notice you’ve said or thought negative words, say “Thank you for showing me what I don’t want and highlighting what I need to change to live a life of joy.” Then re-frame the negative phrase into a positive.
“I don’t have the self-discipline to change my life.”
“Thank you for showing me what I don’t want, I have everything that I need to change my life right now. I change my life for the positive one small step at a time.”
I am guilty as charged and still roll back into old patterns and habits of negativity. But it’s only hurting me and my personal growth. It’s ok to make mistakes, to move backwards. But today is your reminder to begin again. Life is a journey of forgetting and remembering. You got this!
