Daily Sadhana (practice)

Many ask me what my daily practice, sadhana, looks like. To be honest, it used to change a lot. But I am trying to build more consistency (Your welcome, vata derangement) with practices that I know work for me in this stage of my life so I will give you an example of what it looks like here.
—————————

  • Wake up between 6 and 6:30am
  • Sit in meditation pose and consider my daily intention i.e. I am mindful.
  • Pray to God by saying thank you, forgive me, I love you, and work through me.
  • Chant Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo 3 times to tune in and call to my higher wisdom for my practice and for my clients.
  • Practice Alternate Nostril Breathing (nadi shodanah) or visualize this breath practice if I am congested.
  • Practice several minutes of Sa Ta Na Ma chant variations with mudra.
  • Stand looking to the East at the sunrise and do one sun salutation very slowly while chanting the Gayatri Mantra fully one time for each position.
  • Practice AgniSar Shat Kriya 3 times to help with cramps, pelvic floor tightness, digestion, and abdominal strength.
  • Do some sort of movement for as long as time allows. Sometimes it’s simply a variation of Pavanmuktasana or the joint freeing series, awakening every joint in my body. Sometimes it’s whatever yoga poses, stretches, breathwork, or meditations I feel I need this moment.
  • A short savasna (rest period) to let it all soak in.

This can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the day and what time allows.

What does your daily sadhana look like? Do you have one? How can you create more healthy repetition and regimen in your life?
